Baby 8 week checks
These are done by the Doctor at the same time as the 8 week Jabs. The practice nurse runs a child vaccination clinic at the same time, contact the receptionist to book an appointment. If you wish to see the Child Health Visitor please make an appointment by contacting Crabbs Cross Clinic. Telephone No: 01527 488770.
Cervical Smear Tests
We encourage all women usually between the ages of 25-65 to have a smear Test. Women aged 25 to 49 will be screened every 3 years and women aged 50 to 64 will be screened every 5 years. Appointments can be made with the nurse. If you have not had a smear within the last 3 or 5 years (see above), or are unsure when your last one was, please speak to the receptionist.
Influenza & Pneumonia Vaccinations
Influenza vaccinations are available usually from mid October. We also offer immunisations against one of the commoner forms of pneumonia to everybody over the age of 65 and to patients who have conditions that necessitate them having additional protection. The practice nurse will be happy to advise whether you need either of these vaccinations or not.
New Patient Checks
All new patients are encouraged to see the practice nurse for a check-up, as are our existing patients who have not seen a doctor for three years. Patients over the age of seventy five are encouraged to have an annual check-up with either the nurse or one of the doctors.
Well Person Health Checks
Are available to patients by making an appointment to see the Practice Nurse.
Phlebotomy Service
We have dedicated phlebotomists who undertake blood tests Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday between 08.30 – 1300 and 0830-1200 on Tuesday.
Minor Surgery and Cryotherapy clinics.
The removal of minor lesions, cysts, joint injections and cryosurgery for warts are all available. Please discuss these with a doctor or the practice nurse.
Medical Examinations and Insurance Certificates Examinations
For HGV, taxi, PSV driving or for insurance purposes are not covered by the NHS. The fees charged are displayed in reception.
Speech Therapy, Home Physiotherapy Occupational Therapy, Chiropody, Counselling and, Social Services Support
These services can be arranged through your doctor if a referral is felt to be appropriate.
