PRACTICE DECISION ON FECKENHAM BRANCH CLOSURE
The practice has reviewed the service we offer at the Branch Surgery and undertaken a consultation on closing it. We appreciate is it a much loved part of village life however we set out our concerns about the building and seeing patients on our own without any other staff to help if needed.
The 26 page report sets out how we consulted and the feedback we had back.
We have decision to apply to close the branch because even with mitigating actions the overall service would not be as safe as seeing patients at the main surgery. Also moving the appointments to the main surgery would make our service more sustainable and increase patient access. To lessen the impact we are fitting a new phone system, expanding routine appointments to Tuesday afternoon and increasing the number of telephone appointments.
We know this will not be a popular decision but we aim to offer a better more flexible service from the main surgery.
Please contact the Surgery for further information.
All doctors provide maternity services and hold their own antenatal clinics on Friday mornings following surgery. In addition the community midwife also holds a clinic on Friday mornings. Where attendances prove particularly difficult, appointments may be re-arranged by discussion with the doctor.
These are done by the Doctor on Thursday afternoons between 3pm and 4pm at the surgery. The practice nurse runs a child vaccination clinic at the same time, contact the receptionist to book an appointment. If you wish to see the Child Health Visitor please make an appointment by contacting Crabbs Cross Clinic. Telephone No: 01527 488770.
We encourage all women usually between the ages of 25-65 to have a smear Test. Women aged 25 to 49 will be screened every 3 years and women aged 50 to 64 will be screened every 5 years. Appointments can be made with the nurse. If you have not had a smear within the last 3 or 5 years (see above), or are unsure when your last one was, please speak to the receptionist.
Influenza vaccinations are available usually from mid October. We also offer immunisations against one of the commoner forms of pneumonia to everybody over the age of 65 and to patients who have conditions that necessitate them having additional protection. The practice nurse will be happy to advise whether you need either of these vaccinations or not.
All new patients are encouraged to see the practice nurse for a check-up, as are our existing patients who have not seen a doctor for three years. Patients over the age of seventy five are encouraged to have an annual check-up with either the nurse or one of the doctors.
Are available to patients by making an appointment to see the Practice Nurse.
